Each year mother would tell me the story about when she was pregnant. It was time for her to give birth, and she was relaxing in bed with her coffee cup balanced on her large stomach with me inside. As she gently sipped her coffee, I flipped over and the coffee went flying off her stomach. She yelled to Earl, my dad, “Get the car! We’re going to the hospital!”
Mother and grandmother Lena Rock waddled together to the car.
Dad, in a panic, put mother into the car and drove down a one-way street against the traffic!
The good news is that he got mother (and me) to the hospital, without an accident and he even avoided getting a ticket. That was the kind support that Dad gave to mother throughout their 63 years together as soul-mates.
